Part (A)
The article I've chosen is
"Emirati women and workforce in a clash of culture."
- Where is the conflict and who is involved (views)?
The conflict is in the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Um AlQuwain), and the involved ones are all local Emirati people from both gender.
- What is the conflict? What is the basis/the cause of the problem?
Some people from the male gender whom close minded and not well educated think that women shouldn't be allowed to work nor study in a mixed environment.
- What is/are the cultural View(s) (I/G; H/S; P/F) behind the conflict?
In my opinion, the cultural views behind this issue are Honor/Shame and Power/Fear at the same time.
- What is the best solution to the problem?
I think that the best solution to this case is that women should try their best to convince their surroundings and clarify to them that there's no difference between males and females nowadays, and they both should be treated equally. On the other hand, I guess if it didn't work out they should deal with it because families have the right to tell what to do and what not to do.
Part (B)
From your World Views quiz:
explain what your world-view is and how it influences how you see the world.
According to the World Views quiz I've done the other day, the highest number I got was in the guilt/innocence category. I take problems seriously, I over think until I find the best solution and make the right choice. In addition, following the right direction and staying away from the wrong track really matter, it affects in making right or wrong decisions. Moreover, it influences in how do I see the world in a way that whenever I see something that people make I start thinking if its right or not.
